Energy Machines Oy has signed a contract to deliver a high-efficiency waste heat-to-district heating solution at Ensto's electrical manufacturing facility in Porvoo, Finland. The project is part of a collaboration between Porvoon Energia, Ensto, IOTOI, and Sweco to optimize energy use and support Finland’s green transition.
Replacing Ensto's existing chiller system with advanced Energy Machines™ heat pumps and controls, the solution will enhance energy efficiency and sustainability for both the factory and Porvoon Energia district heating network. A key innovation of the system is the ability to direct heat into the return network at lower temperatures, improving efficiency compared to traditional methods.
The initiative aligns with key trends in the district heating industry, including the electrification of heat production, low-temperature waste heat utilization, and customer-focused energy solutions. Scheduled for completion in October 2025, the project marks an exciting milestone for Energy Machines in the Finnish market and offers a powerful model for district energy providers looking to optimize energy use and reduce peak loads.
This project is partially funded by the European Union Recovery Fund, which supports initiatives that advance the green transition and promote competitiveness and exports.
